Summer holiday

From mid-March to mid-May the girls are having a holiday. It is a long period of time, and it is hot, but doing nothing is not an option. Twice a week the girls go to the gym for self-defence lessons taught by the older sisters who practise this sport at top level. It’s great to see them use their qualities to teach the younger girls. It’s a good learning experience which also serves to unite them.

Many girls have the opportunity to visit their families. Sometimes they have to travel far to do so, causing them, and a few of the mothers, to be away for several days. We strive to maintain, build and strengthen family relationships, which takes time but is of the utmost importance. In advance the girls are often excited and a little tense, but once they get there it is all good. For the ‘mothers’ it is also important to get to know the home situation and build a relationship with the family. This contributes to better care for the girls and that is what we are aiming for.

At the end of the holiday quite some fun things are coming up, which we will tell you more about later on.
